Parks & Recreation
Welcome to the Parks and Recreation Department of Manchester, Vermont!
The Town of Manchester's Parks and Recreation Department offers a variety of programs for all ages, community events like concerts and festivals, and oversees the maintenance of five parks.
The largest of these is the Dana L. Thompson Memorial Park, or 'Rec Park' as it's known locally. The park spans more than 95 acres and features the recently constructed Park House, a 6-lane swimming pool with a diving board, three baseball diamonds, a softball field, multipurpose athletic fields, and three playgrounds for children of all ages. Visitors can also enjoy a one-mile walking path, a 400-meter running track, a dog park, a 6,000 square-foot skatepark, three outdoor basketball courts (with lines for pickleball), and three tennis courts.
Restrooms are available at the Park House during daylight hours. The park is open daily from 5:00 AM until 10:00 PM and can be found off Bonnet Street (Route 30) on Recreation Park Road in Manchester Center.
The Parks and Recreation Department oversees the operation of town-owned parks and recreational programs. Day-to-day maintenance of the parks was transferred to the Department of Public Works in 2008.
