Brian Van Horn's Biography
Brian became the Director of the Town of Manchester Parks & Recreation Department in April 2019, bringing years of experience in facility management.
In this role, he manages the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the Town Parks and Recreation Department and its facilities. Additionally, he oversees facility scheduling, summer programming, the development and management of special events and the Applejack Stadium.
Before this role, Brian worked in golf course management and maintenance beginning in 1997. He served as Assistant Superintendent at several prestigious private golf clubs across the country, including the world-renowned Pine Valley Golf Club in New Jersey, The Club at Hokulia in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, and The Vineyard Golf Club on Martha’s Vineyard. Most recently, he was a member of the greens staff at Ekwanok Country Club in Manchester.
Brian earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Private Recreation Management and Tourism Planning from the University of Vermont’s School of Natural Resources in 1998. He later studied turfgrass science at Rutgers Professional Golf Course Turf Management School in New Brunswick, New Jersey, graduating summa cum laude in 2001.
Brian grew up in New Jersey before moving to Winhall, Vermont, in 1988. He returned to Manchester in 2011 with his wife, Lisa, their two sons, Ethan and Kai.
