Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility Opening

On Monday, May 19th, Bennington County Solid Waste Alliance (BCSWA) resumes seasonal operation of its Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Facility; the place where you can safely dispose of those unwanted, toxic, poison, and flammable items.

Unwanted cleaning products, pesticides, and other hazardous materials are banned from the landfill and require special disposal.

The HHW Facility is located at the Bennington Transfer Station, 904 Houghton Lane Bennington VT. It is open on Mondays by appointment through October to residents and small businesses in southwest Vermont. Appointments can be made at the Alliance’s website BCSWA.org or by calling 802-442-0713, Ext. 2. A $5.00 fee is charged to residents to use the facility and rates for Small Businesses will be determined by item type, quantity, and disposal cost.

The facility is open to residents and small businesses from Arlington, Bennington, Dorset, Glastenbury, Manchester, Pownal, Rupert, Sandgate, Searsburg, Shaftsbury, Stamford, Sunderland, and Woodford.

Some area transfer stations, and retail establishments accept paint, fluorescent bulbs, used motor oil, computers and electronic waste, batteries and other materials banned from landfills year-round. For more information, visit https://www.bcswa.org or follow the Alliance on Facebook.
