Anita's Biography

Anita Sheldon was appointed interim Town Clerk in June of 2014 and subsequently elected to the position in March of 2015 after serving as Assistant Town Clerk since September 2009.

Anita grew up in Manchester attending Manchester Elementary Middle School and Burr and Burton Academy. She earned an Associate of Science degree in Criminal Justice from the Community College of Vermont and received her Certified Vermont Clerk designation in September of 2016.

Anita currently serves as a member at large on the New England Association of City and Town Clerk Executive Board and as a member of the Vermont Municipal Clerks and Treasurers Association Fee Review Committee. She is a member of the New England Municipal Clerks Institute Class of 2020 and ed to received her designation as Certified Municipal Clerk in the fall of 2020. Anita lives in Manchester with her family and two dogs.

In 2024, earned the designation of Master Municipal Clerk (MMC), which is awarded by the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC), Inc.

IIMC grants the MMC designation only to municipal clerks who complete demanding education requirements; and have a record of significant contributions to their local government, community and state.
