We look forward to serving our constituents and visitors alike!

The Manchester Town Clerk offers an array of services including, but not limited to, the recording and safe-keeping of all records of the town; issuing certified copies of births and deaths occurring in Vermont; issuing certified copies of marriage licenses issued by the Manchester Town Clerk; issuing marriage licenses; issuing dog licenses; issuing Green Mountain passports to seniors 62 years or over, or a Veteran of the uniformed services and a full-time Manchester resident; managing elections and maintaining the voter checklist; issuing fish and game licenses and gift certificates, reporting of big game. The municipal clerk is an elected position and answers directly to the voters of the municipality.

To improve community outreach and transparency while maintaining a level of excellence in record management and customer service, the mission of the clerk's office is to provide high-quality, reliable, and impartial services to constituents and visitors by preserving local democracy and three basic components: administering and safeguarding federal, state, and local elections; preserving official records of the municipality; and to perform all other duties as required by state statutes.

The office of the municipal clerk is one of the oldest public servants. Over the years, clerks have become the hub of government, the direct link between the town inhabitants and their government. The clerk is the historian of the community, for the entire recorded history of the town and its people is in the clerk’s care. The eminent political scientist, Professor William Bennett Munro stated: “No other office in municipal service has so many contacts. It serves the Selectboard, the Town Manager and all Administrative Departments without exception. Its work demands versatility, alertness, accuracy and no end of patience. The public does not realize how many loose ends this office pulls together.”

This is your community and we invite you to become more involved in your community and your government!
