The towns of Dorset (pop. 2,031) and Manchester (pop. 4,391), Vermont seek responses from qualified professionals and academic organizations to analyze and make recommendations about governance, management and administration of police, fire, emergency medical and emergency management services regarding possible consolidation and collaboration between the two towns. Responses to the Request For Proposals (RFP) are due by 4:30 P.M. on June 4, 2014. Questions about the study and RFP may be emailed to PSRFP@manchester-vt.gov.
On December 5, 2013 the Dorset Selectboard and Manchester Selectboard met in a joint meeting and approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that authorized a study of possible public safety and emergency services consolidation and collaboration. As part of the MOU the two towns organized a workgroup comprised of stakeholders and citizens to help guide the discussion. In March of 2014 Dorset Town Meeting and Manchester Town Meeting approved the concept of the study and funding for the study.
